TASK
Market research and Competitor Analysis
Using your chosen business (from Assessment One) consider the following scenario:
You are thinking about expanding the business. However, you might need some financial support from the local bank. The first thing your bank manager wants to know is about the viability of the current organisation/product in the market. To show that your chosen business will be profitable (and or meaningful), you need to find market information about your organisation. As part of your market analysis, you particularly need to find out which businesses (a) complement to your product, and (b) which ones are your primary competition.
To complete this task you need to:
Describe the nature of the organisation (what is its key mission statement, and product offerings?) 150 words
Conduct a Market analysis (environmental scanning using PESTLE model) 350 words
Competitor analysis (what other organisations exist in the area- what are they offering? draw a perceptual map of the competition and the complementary businesses) 350 words
As part of your report, be sure to define and describe the theoretical framework of the concepts of market analysis and competitor analysis that you are using.
To gather secondary market data, as evidence to support your proposal, use sources like the Australian Bureau of Statistics, as well as other online information sources (i.e. comparison sites, social media sites etc) about existing business in your chosen industry to give you a strong sense of the marketplace.
